After a full career as a film editor telling other people’s stories, I decided to shift gears and start telling my own. My first efforts were two short films that did well on the festival circuit, but when I tried to write a feature script, I was stuck. At fifty-six years old, I decided to go to grad school for screenwriting. It never occurred to me that most of my classwork would be with undergraduates. You’ve Got Gail is my story on steroids.
In today’s world women in their fifties are expected to just disappear. Gail fights back by going to grad school where the twenty-something’s in her classes give her a schooling of epic proportions.
